What we do

General practice, skin checks and allied health at one address

Most Nerang families do not want to drive to three different places for one health problem. Our GPs and nurses work alongside on-site 4Cyte pathology, physiotherapy, psychology, dietetics, audiology and a visiting cardiologist, so more of your care can happen in the one visit on Station Road. New patients are welcome, and you can stay with the same GP through MyMedicare.

Fees and billing

What an appointment costs

We are a bulk billing practice for all eligible Medicare services, which means most GP appointments cost eligible patients nothing out of pocket. A small number of services sit outside Medicare and do attract a fee. Everything is listed below and on our fees page, so there are no surprises at the front desk.

Bulk billed for eligible Medicare patients

No out of pocket cost when Medicare covers the service

  • Standard and long GP consultations
  • Skin check consultations
  • Cervical screening and women's health appointments
  • Child health checks and immunisations
  • Chronic disease care plans and health assessments
Services Medicare does not cover. Some appointments sit outside the Medicare Benefits Schedule and are charged as a private fee, for example iron and vitamin infusions and commercial driver medicals. Allied health appointments such as physiotherapy, dietetics and psychology attract a gap payment after the Medicare rebate where a rebate applies.
A note on skin procedures. The skin check consultation itself is bulk billed for eligible Medicare patients. If your GP finds something that needs a biopsy, excision or pathology, they will explain what is involved and what it may cost before anything goes ahead. You decide from there.
  • Bring your Medicare card

Plus any concession or DVA card. New patients should also bring a list of current medications.

  • Not sure what applies to you?

Call reception on (07) 5620 3633 before you book and they will tell you exactly what your appointment will cost.

Book an appointment

Three ways to get in

Online booking is the fastest and shows live availability. If you would rather talk to a person, reception can help you choose the right appointment length and doctor.

Prefer to walk in? You can. Walk-in patients are seen during opening hours at Shop 7/57 Station Road with no appointment needed. Waiting times depend on how busy the clinic is on the day.

The form is for appointment requests only. Reception will contact you to confirm a time. It is not monitored outside opening hours and it is not for urgent or emergency care.

Request received

Reception will call you to confirm a time during opening hours. If you have not heard from us and you need to be seen sooner, please call (07) 5620 3633.

Why patients choose us

Practical reasons, not marketing ones

Open seven days

Weekdays from 7:30am and both weekend days. You can be seen before work, or on a Saturday, without taking leave.

Walk-ins welcome

No appointment needed during opening hours. Useful when something comes up that will not wait until next week.

On-site pathology

4Cyte pathology is in the building, so many blood tests can be done straight after your appointment rather than on another trip.

Allied health in the same practice

Physiotherapy, psychology, dietetics, audiology and a visiting cardiologist, so a referral often stays under the one roof.

Continuity through MyMedicare

Registering is free and voluntary. It links you to your regular GP and care team so your history follows you between visits.

Common questions

Before you book

Is Nerang Medical Centre accepting new patients?

Yes. We are accepting new patients from Nerang and the surrounding Gold Coast suburbs, including Highland Park, Carrara, Worongary, Ashmore, Molendinar, Benowa, Merrimac, Pacific Pines and Southport. Book online or call (07) 5620 3633. Bring your Medicare card and a list of any medications you take.

Does Nerang Medical Centre bulk bill?

Yes. We are a bulk billing practice for all eligible Medicare services, so eligible patients have no out of pocket cost for those appointments. A small number of services sit outside Medicare, such as iron and vitamin infusions and commercial driver medicals, and these are charged as a private fee. Allied health appointments attract a gap payment after the Medicare rebate. The full list is on our fees page, and reception can confirm the cost before you book.

Are skin checks bulk billed?

The skin check consultation is bulk billed for eligible Medicare patients. If your GP recommends a procedure such as a biopsy or excision, or pathology is required, they will explain what is involved and any cost before it goes ahead.

Can I see a female GP in Nerang?

Yes. Female GPs are available. Choose a specific doctor when booking online, or tell reception when you call and they will match you with an available female doctor. Female GPs can provide cervical screening, contraception including IUD and implant options, antenatal care and general women's health appointments.

Do I need an appointment, or can I walk in?

Walk-in patients are welcome during opening hours and no appointment is necessary. Booking online or by phone usually means a shorter wait, because walk-in waiting times depend on how busy the clinic is that day.

What are your opening hours?

We are open seven days: Monday to Friday from 7:30am to 5:00pm, and Saturday and Sunday from 8:00am to 1:00pm. When we are closed, the National Home Doctor Service can be reached on 13 41 00. In an emergency, call 000.

Where do I park?

The clinic is Shop 7/57 Station Road, inside My Centre Nerang, opposite Specsavers at the ALDI end. Centre parking is free for patients and there is step-free access from the car park to the clinic entrance.

How do I prepare for my appointment?

Bring your Medicare card and any concession or DVA card, a list of your current medications, and details of any recent test results or specialist letters. For a skin check, avoid wearing makeup or nail polish and wear clothing that is easy to change out of, so your GP can examine your skin properly. New patients will be asked to complete a short registration form, so arriving about ten minutes early helps.

Can I get pathology done at the clinic?

Yes. 4Cyte pathology operates on site, so many blood tests and samples can be collected during the same visit rather than at a separate location.

What is MyMedicare and should I register?

MyMedicare is a free and voluntary Australian Government program that formally links you to your regular GP and practice. Registering supports continuity of care and can give you access to additional Medicare items. You can register through your Medicare online account, the Express Plus Medicare app, or with help from our reception team at your next visit.
